We saw Sting’s defeat to Seth Rollins at Night of Champions, and we also saw Sting obviously rocked and dizzy during the match. Now, it should be important to mention that WWE are claiming this injury is genuine. However, I can’t help but feel that WWE is sidelining Sting on purpose so that he is fresh for Wrestlemania time, next year.
Let’s assume that Sting’s injury was genuine. Was he in fact meant to win the match? But they flipped the script due to the injury. I find this unlikely, as there were two opportunities for Sting to win via submission in the last minutes of the match.
Therefore, let’s go with the assumption that Sting’s injury is real. It seemed pretty serious at the time, and it seemed far too genuine to just be acting. He was stumbling all over the place, and basically collapsed in the ring.
Props to Seth Rollins for playing it out like that was supposed to happen though. If anything, it probably pushed his heel image slightly further up, which is always a good thing.
Reports are saying that Sting’s injury was career threatening. Which I could believe. We’ve seen injuries in the ring which don’t seem particularly major at the time, yet they’ve ended careers. However, Sting’s injury seemed incredibly serious. I actually thought the doctor was going to end it at one point.
I would imagine that the doctor would have wanted to end the match, but Sting is old-school, he would have refused to let the doctor ring the bell.
Reports are stating that it was an injury to Sting’s neck. His manager released a statement on his Facebook page stating that Sting is expected to make a full recovery. However, I can’t help but feel a similar situation to Daniel Bryan. We’re constantly being told that Daniel Bryan will make a full recovery, however, where is he? We haven’t seen him competing in the ring for what feels like forever.
Undertaker vs Sting
Will we ever get to see the hotly anticipated Undertaker vs Sting match if Sting’s injuries are as serious as some reports are claiming.
We want to wish Sting a speedy recovery, and look forward to seeing him at the pinnacle of health back in the squared circle as soon as possible.
