The latest in Chyna’s list of reoccurring controversies, is that she apparently caused a bit of a ruckus at Roddy Pipper’s funeral, when she tried to talk to Triple H. Now, nobody except the people in attendance know exactly what happened. However, I wouldn’t put it past Hunter to overreact to the situation, and have security sort her out, even if she just attempted to say “hi”.
However, in addition to that fiasco, there is a long list of past events which the WWE seem to be using as an excuse for why Chyna won’t ever be inducted in the Hall of Fame.
For a start, there’s the whole pornography scandal. However, I don’t feel as though this can be a legitimate excuse, because X-Pac was also included in that, and he has appeared in the WWE plenty of times since that happened. Triple H’s argument was, that if people (mostly kids) searched for Chyna’s name because they’ve never heard of her before, there are too many “non-PG” things they would find in their Google search. However, as I said, the same could be said for X-Pac, so…Hunter, as usual, is being a bit hypocritical.
Chyna’s Past With Triple H
This is going to be the main reason I feel as though Chyna will never be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Triple H (and Stephanie McMahon…)
There is definitely something that’s being hidden in this situation. Not everything has come to light. I’m not blaming either party, but someone is hiding something. It seems as though either Chyna has done something so bad that Triple H and Stephanie wouldn’t want her near them. Or, Chyna knows something, and therefore Hunter doesn’t want to give her any limelight at all to be able to have the chance to tell people what she knows.
It just doesn’t make any sense to me why there would be such a strong grudge held over such a long time, unless there was more to the story.
At the end of the day, I don’t feel as though Chyna will ever make it into the Hall of Fame unless that issue with Triple H is sorted out, and I don’t think it ever will be.
You also have to look at the most important factor…
Does Chyna Deserve To Be In The Hall of Fame?
I’m sure the answer to this question will highly depend from person to person, and from what era of wrestling you’re “from”.
Here’s my view on it:
Chyna was incredibly influencial in the women’s division. She was the first woman to hold a non-women’s championship. She was a dominant force. However, I don’t feel as though she was around for long enough to warrant her being in the Hall of Fame, or at least not warrant her being on the top of it. I think Trish Stratus and Lita are far more influencial in the world of female wrestling.
When I think of Women’s Champions, I think of Trish and Lita. Chyna doesn’t even pop into my head.
This could be because Trish and Lita have been around far longer than Chyna. Or, it could be that they were just far more popular than Chyna. I think it’s the later. Chyna was just an offspring of the “DX Show”. She was never a main event player in the limelight of DX. She was riding on the coat tails of Triple H and Shawn Michaels.
Would she have been popular without them? Sure! Assuming she was booked well. However, I don’t think she would have had such a large impact. She would have been the retro version of Kharma. A huge, dominant women who could have traded blows with any of the guys in the WWE. However, once again, when you think of great WWE Female’s, you don’t think of Kharma.
and that’s what I think it boils down to. While Chyna was great in her time. She was never legendary. She wasn’t around long enough to be legendary. Admittedly, that’s not her fault. However, I don’t feel as though she should get into the Hall of Fame, regardless of the drama.
